Lauren Buckles, E-RYT 200, RCYT, is a yoga and mindfulness teacher for youth and adults. Lauren specializes in teaching yoga in schools in the Hudson Valley, where she shares mindfulness based practices with children and professional development for educators and administrators. For more information about yoga and mindfulness for children and adolescents, please visit her Youth page.
Lauren is a certified Katonah Yoga® teacher and teaches adults both privately and in the studio setting. Katonah Yoga® is a syncretic Hatha yoga practice developed by Nevine Michaan over 40 years, incorporating Taoist theory, geometry, metaphor, and imagination — in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being. You can find Lauren studying and practicing with her mentor Eva Giorgi and KY founder, Nevine Michaan.
In her classes, Lauren hopes her students will cultivate a strong and compassionate relationship to themselves by being curious and paying attention to their experience. Lauren believes that when our practice is rooted in safety, we can be honest with ourselves. We can notice how we are in moments of comfort or discomfort. We can notice our personal patterns and habits, without judgement. From there, we have an opportunity to take the insights we've discovered on our mat, and let them support us in all of our relations. Lauren is inspired to utilize asana and pranyama as techniques for greater joy and clarity. Her classes are suitable for all levels.
